“Natural,” “fitness,” “0% added sugar.” You buy convinced you're choosing well, and at home you discover the second ingredient was glucose syrup wearing a different name.
Why it works
The front of a package is marketing: it can say almost anything it wants. The back — the ingredient list and the nutrition table — is regulated, and that's where the product gives itself away. The trick isn't memorizing nutrition facts: it's knowing where to look, in the right order.
